The Democratic Gap

The democratic gap measures the distance between how constituencies vote on YouBase and how their MPs vote in Parliament. A gap of 0% means perfect alignment. The higher the gap, the more an MP's votes diverge from their constituents' expressed views.

How is this calculated?

More data = more accurate gaps

Gap scores improve as more verified voters in each constituency express opinions. The more people who vote on bills, the more representative and credible the gap data becomes. Constituency scores are only published when a minimum threshold of votes is reached.
